Russia’s attacks on Ukraine in Kyiv and Kharkiv
On the sixth day of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Russian forces intensified their artillery bombardment of Kharkiv and Kyiv. The Ukrainian side reported dozens of civilian casualties. Russian troops continued to encircle Kyiv, while barricades were built in the city and preparations made for its defense.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, whose country is facing a massive unprovoked invasion from neighboring Russia, has called on the European Union to grant Ukraine membership under a special procedure immediately, a move bloc officials said was unlikely.
